The two young stars of a movie about Cubans dreaming of fleeing their country to start a new life in Miami made headlines when they fled to Miami, probably to start a new life.

The two 20-year-old actors, Anailin de la Rua de la Torre and Javier Nunez Florian, were not present to bask in their success at the Tribeca Film Festival yesterday, where their movie, “Una Noche,” won top honors in several categories, DNAinfo reported.

The film’s director, Lucy Mulloy, was named Best New Director, its cinematographers, Trevor Forrest and Shlomo Godder, won Best Cinematography in a Narrative Feature Film and its two leading actors, Dariel Arrechada and Javier Nunez Florian, were named Best Actors in a Narrative Feature Film.

After flying from Cuba, the two actors disappeared during a stopover in Miami on Wednesday, and did not show up for their connecting flight, according to DNAinfo. They were traveling with the film’s third co-star, Dariel Arrechada.

The pair separated from Arrechada, saying they wanted to go shopping, and never showed up to board their next flight to New York.

“To be sincere, I think they’re going to stay [in the United States],” Arrechada told the Huffington Post.
