Comics as a Professional Art Form?

Is there an increasing respect for comic illustrations as a professional art form?

SinoVision speaks to Lisha Jiang, a Chinese MFA student at the School of Visual Arts, who recalls that growing up China, there were few Chinese comic book artists and adults didn’t consider comics to be good for kids.

But it seems we are at the point, she says, where people are starting to accept comics as a form of art and a means of making a living. And Jiang, whose work reflects her cultural background, wants to be part of that growing movement of professional illustrators in China.
