To celebrate the 2,560th birthday of Lord Gautama Buddha, some 500 people, many of Nepalese and Tibetan background, turned out at Diversity Plaza in Jackson Heights on Sunday, May 22, reports Anuz Thapa for QNS.

The Himalayan Buddhist Community of Nepal in USA organized the event honoring the founder of Buddhism.

“This festival is a platform to bring together all the Nepalese Buddhists living in the USA,” said Tenzing Ukyab, the president of the organization. “The other purpose of the celebration is to spread the information of the birthplace of Buddha, which is Nepal.”

Other attendees praised the peaceful and positive teachings of Buddha. Read more from them, and see photos from the celebration, at QNS.
