Sheldon Silver Still Supported in Chinatown

Residents of Chinatown expressed support for Assemblyman Sheldon Silver, convicted on seven counts of corruption on Nov. 30, and mused about the possibility of a Chinese candidate being elected to fill his seat, according to reports in Sing Tao Daily and World Journal.

At protests and in conversations across New York City, parents and children expressed anger at proposed city cuts that would eliminate nearly 200 after-school programs — and the community and ethnic media were on hand to capture the outpouring.
