A new wave of arrests in the wake of registrations

On the day of the Superbowl, many dozens of Pakistanis, Bangladeshis and other Muslims were arrested in San Diego and other cities in California. According to the L.A. Times, the authorities refuse to release details of those arrested.

For the first time, there are reports from Pakistanis about the police questioning people on the street, as they go about their daily business. In Jamaica, Queens a young man walking on the street was questioned by a policeman. The officer asked him his nationality. When he said he was Pakistani, the policeman questioned him about his legal status.

Fortunately, the young man was a green card holder, though he did not have it on him. The policeman went to the man’s house to verify the existance of his green card.

A limousine driver in Corona, Queens, was asked for identification by a policeman. When he was found to be undocumented, he was arrested on the spot.

Pakistan Post has learned about 25 arrests this week from Chicago, L.A and Houston.
