Finding Ethiopian marathoners in the Bronx

The Bronx is home to 14 athletes from Ethiopia. While New York offers opportunities for them, in terms of serving as a gateway to other parts of the country and the world, the athletes face numerous challenges. One of the runners, Fikadu Lemma, trains himself and has no health insurance. The professional athlete visa that Lemma and the other athletes receive may let them into the U.S. but it does not let them hold regular jobs. This leaves them only able to make a living through running.
