Voters want race out of redistricting

An independent Quinnipiac University poll found that New York State voters were 72% versus 21% opposed to drawing legislative district lines to create racial or ethnic districts. Some Asian American groups challenged this finding and insisted that the redistricting process should accurately reflect the composition of population.
