Some 60,000 people are homeless in New York City, the highest number since the Great Depression.

Experts say the shelter system is overburdened. And young people with nowhere to go are struggling with strict bureaucracy — curfews, assessment periods — and danger in city shelters.

Emrys Eller spoke with young people who sleep in unusual places to avoid city shelters.
