Ahead of its second annual Puerto Rican Day Parade and Festival, community organization El Grito de Sunset Park held a sneak peak of sorts of what was to come on June 12. Home Reporter’s Jaime DeJesus writes that some sold merchandise to raise money for the parade and others checked out the cars and motorcycles that will be a part of the event, as people performed Bomba.

Meanwhile, Sunset Park native and graffiti artist Robin Padro worked on a mural of longtime resident Yvonne Cruz, a key figure in organizing the first Sunset Park Puerto Rican Day Parade last year – the first at least after many years. Padro told Home Reporter:

“This means a lot being from Brooklyn. Sunset Park has a big Puerto Rican community. I think it’s important people know the history of neighborhood.”
