‘Heart Bombing’ in East New York

The East New York neighborhood of Brooklyn is one of the first slated for rezoning and affordable housing development by the de Blasio administration. Possibly threatened as part of this plan are some old historic buildings, including the Empire State Dairy, built in 1906.

Preserving East New York (PENY) wants to create awareness in the community about these historic buildings. On Feb. 25, the group went to one of the buildings to show some love by “heart bombing” it, and Fleur Born and Christa Hiddinga of the University of Applied Sciences Utrecht were there.
