In response to the growing number of Chinese constituents in his district, Sunset Park Council member Carlos Menchaca is expanding his office’s services to better serve the community, reports Paula Katinas for Brooklyn Daily Eagle.

He made the announcement at the Chinese-American Planning Council (CPC) office, which is working in partnership with the council member’s office.

Under a program that began earlier this month, Menchaca has set up a satellite office at the CPC, where members of his staff will be on hand every Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to assist residents with immigration assistance, housing services, education, attorney referrals and any municipal-related issues.

The days and hours of service may be expanded depending on the needs of the community, Menchaca said.

Go to Brooklyn Daily Eagle to read what CPC’s president had to say about the joint effort, and to find out how the Sunset Park population compares to that of Chinatown in Manhattan.
