The Council of Peoples Organization (COPO) brought together teens and law enforcement employees at a career day event at Kingsborough Community College on May 6, reports Brooklyn Daily Eagle.

The attendees, more than 600 children, were given the opportunity to meet with members of the New York State Police force, NYPD, the Department of Correction, the Department of Justice, the Nassau County Police Department and the FBI. They were offered demonstrations in finger printing, crime scene investigation techniques and foot printing, among other law enforcement skills.

Brooklyn Daily Eagle noted that COPO, formerly known as the Council of Pakistan Organization, was started after 9/11 to support South Asians, Muslims in particular. Read more on what led to the organization’s formation, and additional details on the career day event, in the full story.
