Alison Tan describes City Council member Peter Koo as a “nice person” but she, on the other hand, doesn’t “want to be a nice person. I want to be a Council member in the City Council and a force to be reckoned with as an angry mom.” That, according to Ryan Brady of Queens Chronicle, is how she announced her run for Koo’s seat in the upcoming Democratic primary for the 20th district on Sept. 12.

Tan, who is the wife of Assemblyman Ron Kim, spoke during public participation time at a meeting of Community Board 7, of which she’s a member. She criticized the quality of life in Flushing, particularly those aspects that affect her children, such as overcrowded schools, “lack of sanitation,” and pollution among other concerns.

Tan cited her professional background in finance to demonstrate how she would be a good fit for the City Council. Find out what she said, and other details from the announcement, at Queens Chronicle.
