A Black Nerd Con in Brooklyn

“Martial Arts and the Urban Landscape,” “Black and KPOP: Appropriation or Appreciation,” and “AfroCrowd: Bringing the Digital Footprints of the African Dispora with Wikipedia” – those are just some of the panels and workshops on the agenda for BLERD Comic Con, which takes place July 29-30 in DUMBO. According to its website, “Black + Nerd = BLERD, a blend of a micro-Comic Con with the intersectionality of social issues facing people of color.”

Clairesa Clay, founder of BLERD City Con, Regine Sawyer, owner of Lockett Down Productions and founder of the Women in Comics Collective International, and N. Steven Harris, a famed comic illustrator, speak to BRIC TV about what’s in store.
