Immigrant Actors Speak Out

After graduating in May from the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre where she met other international actors, France native Ingrid Raison decided to start “Actsiders,” a podcast on acting from the perspective of actors in NYC from abroad.

She tells Angela Matua of QNS that “the current political climate” pushed her to start the project, saying that it’s important at this time to “listen to immigrant stories like you and me trying to make things happen here and who are a positive asset to America and New York itself.”

“I’m very interested in what is their story, what makes it unique but what is their obsession, what are they driven by?” she said. “In a way I think it’s for our community of artists [and] young actors who are living and striving here. They’re all incredibly positive and optimistic about what they do and so passionate about their craft.”

Each episode of the weekly podcast features an interview with an actor from a different country. Episodes so far have included actors from India, Ukraine, Peru Italy and Israel.
