‘Latinos for ICE’ Formed in Response to Queens Shooting

Holding signs with the slogans “Make NYC Great Again,” in reference to Trump’s campaign, and “Latinos for ICE,” a group of Hispanic New Yorkers angrily protested in front of the 90th Street train station in Queens, announcing the creation of a new organization called The Latinos for ICE Coalition, which calls for the deployment of more ICE agents in Queens.

The members of Latinos For ICE urged the city to protect its communities from a crime wave and asked for the deportation of violent undocumented immigrants after a man was gunned down at the Queens train station. The daylight murder has been associated with violent gang MS-13.

The protest, on Sunday, Feb. 10, also asked for local legislators to support ICE, as well as other security measures on the border, and called out recently-elect congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who advocated for abolishing ICE.

Joining the small group of protesters was Manny Alicandro, the only pro-Trump candidate for NYC public advocate, and supporter of stronger immigration restrictions. (…)
