Dancing the Lindy Hop

The Harlem Swing Dance Society is dedicated to promoting and teaching swing dance and the Lindy Hop – popular in the 1930s and 1940s – in their cultural home of Harlem. Tuesday nights at 7 p.m. are “swing nights” with drop-in classes at the Jospeh P. Kennedy Center at 34 West 134th St.

Imke Renee Slump and Iris Wijngaarde from the University of Applied Sciences Utrecht went to a class, interviewed the director, and followed the dance moves of one pair of Lindy Hoppers in this video.
