For the past year, Amanda Morales has lived in a church in Washington Heights with her U.S.-born children to avoid being deported to Guatemala, a harsh step that other immigrants have also taken since then, El Diario/La Prensa reports.

Amanda Morales-Guerra and her three children continue to live in Manhattan’s Holyrood Church, as immigration authorities refuse to reopen her case to allow her attorneys to contest her deportation order, reports El Diario/La Prensa.

Guatemalan mother Amanda Morales-Guerra has lived for the past month with her three children in a Washington Heights church as ICE continues to refuse to reopen her case, El Diario/La Prensa reports.
