Washington Heights’ P.S. 132 Juan Pablo Duarte, along with 32 other public schools, have been saved from closure for another year. Extra programs at the school – which is 97 percent Latino – have been added but parents continue the fight to restore lost funding.

P.S. 132 Juan Pablo Duarte in Washington Heights has the largest number of recently-arrived immigrant students. But with low performance landing it on the DOE chopping block, El Diario/La Prensa reports on the Dominican parents trying to save the century-old school.
