Composer in Exile to Perform at Pakistani Festival

Sahib Gul, a Pashtun composer from Pakistan who lives in exile in Midwood, will perform at the Pakistani Independence Day Mela Aug. 20 in his first public show in more than five years. Ditmas Park Corner speaks to the musician about his musical roots and fleeing Taliban extremists.

Members of the instrumental group Khumariyaan held their fourth concert of a U.S. tour at the Asia Society in New York on Oct. 12, melding traditional folk music and modern music.
