As the City Council prepares for its Nov. 22 debate on so-called living wage legislation, which would require businesses getting city subsidies to pay their workers at least $10 per hour with benefits or $11.50 per hour without benefits, advocates are stepping up their publicity campaign.

One thing that Latinos who have lived in New York City over the past 10 years miss is high enough salaries to be able to make purchases and save money. Many of them have directly experienced the effects of the economic crisis, which has widened the gap between the rich and the poor.
